Survey of education secretariats: progress of school reopening

This document explores the alternation process that began in February in Colombia, marking a gradual return to classrooms in 93 of the 96 territorial entities in the country. Significant progress has been achieved, with 1,311,680 students in alternation as of May 7, representing 13.5% of total enrollment for 2021. However, over 8 million students have yet to return to in-person classes. The return has been uneven, influenced by various factors such as school infrastructure, the implementation of biosecurity protocols, parents’ trust, and the pandemic’s evolution. The survey designed by the Observatory for Educational Management focuses on the challenges of school reopening, necessary infrastructure and resources, dialogue with the educational community, and training processes for teachers and administrators.
